Why Dental Bridges Aren’t Always the Best Option
Before dental implants became the standard of care, bridges were the main way to replace a single missing tooth. To hold a bridge in place, the neighboring healthy teeth must be ground down to act as anchors for the false tooth in between. This process permanently alters otherwise healthy teeth and can make them more prone to future decay or failure.
With dental implants, there’s no need to touch the surrounding teeth. The implant replaces the missing tooth root and supports a natural-looking crown that functions independently.
Under certain circumstances, Dr. Durr may still recommend a bridge—for example, when the neighboring teeth already need crowns or when implant placement isn’t ideal.
The Problem with Dentures
When several teeth are missing or you wear traditional dentures, the jawbone no longer receives the natural stimulation it needs and begins to shrink over time. Dentures rest on the gums and do not replace the tooth roots, so bone loss continues. This gradual change can cause the lower face to sag inward, making it appear older and less defined.
Implant-based options such as Snap-In Dentures and New Teeth in One Day solve this problem by anchoring directly into the bone, restoring stability and preserving facial structure. Dr. Durr has extensive experience in implant dentistry and carefully designs each case for optimal function, comfort, and natural appearance.

Real Patient Stories

“When I came to Dr. Durr, my teeth were in bad condition. I had lost enamel, and my teeth were falling out one by one. I was losing at least one tooth per year.
“When I came into Progressive Dental, soothing music was playing, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Dr. Durr was ready for me right away and was professional from the start. He has a sense of humor that I enjoyed too! He was gentle during procedures, and I experienced very little or no pain at all after each treatment. I’m now able to smile and converse with confidence. Not only that, but I can once again enjoy eating my favorite foods.”
