Dental Cleanings & Gum Disease Treatment

A healthy smile starts with regular cleanings. We use advanced technology to give you comfortable and thorough cleanings and provide nonsurgical treatment for gum disease.

Gentle, Thorough Dental Cleanings

Our friendly and skilled hygienist provides thorough and gentle cleanings with an advanced ultrasonic scaler. This high-tech tool uses a combination of high-frequency vibrations and an anti-microbial spray to comfortably remove tartar and plaque in a way that is both highly effective and remarkably comfortable for patients of all ages. It allows for deeper cleaning with less scraping, reduced sensitivity, and a smoother overall experience.

During your visit, she will also take the time to educate you on the proper way to brush and floss so you can maintain healthy gums and teeth between appointments. She offers personalized tips based on your unique needs, helping you build habits that support long-term oral health and confidence.

Effective Treatment for Gum Disease

Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. It is a bacterial infection that causes inflammation of the gums and, left untreated, gradually destroys the gum tissue and bone that support the teeth. As the condition progresses, teeth can become loose and may eventually fall out.

We provide comprehensive nonsurgical treatment for gum disease, using deep cleaning, laser therapy and antimicrobial care to restore gum health and prevent further damage.

Custom Treatment, Including Minimally Invasive Laser Therapy

Dr. Durr has a variety of tools in his toolkit with which to effectively treat your gum disease, including both ultrasonic and traditional dental scaling instruments, as well as prescription mouthwash to kill bacteria and treat bad breath.

In many cases, he uses a special dental laser to provide Laser-Assisted Periodontal Treatment (LAPT). The laser eliminates harmful bacteria, gently removes infected tissue and accelerates your body’s natural healing ability.

After a thorough examination, he will determine the best treatment—or mix of treatments—to fully resolve your gum disease.

Do You Have Gum Disease?

Gum disease may be hard to detect in its early stages. It often causes little or no pain until it has caused significant damage. If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, give our office a call right away so we can help you before it gets too bad:

Your gums bleed while brushing, flossing, or eating hard foods

Your gums are red, swollen or tender

You have pain or sores in your mouth

Your gums are receding or pulling away from your teeth

Your teeth feel loose or don’t seem to fit together the same as they use to when biting or chewing

You have pus between your gums and teeth

You have persistent bad breath or a bad taste in your mouth

The Relationship Between Oral Health and Overall Health

Your overall health is closely connected to your oral health.

Research has shown that poor dental health is linked to serious conditions throughout the body, including heart disease, stroke, lung disease, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes and certain types of cancer. Harmful bacteria associated with gum disease can enter the bloodstream and spread to other parts of the body, potentially contributing to these broader health issues.

By helping you maintain healthy gums and teeth, we also support your overall well-being!
